what's in a name

I often get asked about my business name here I explain what is behind the name Dandelions & Grace.

Deciding on a new business name is a lot harder than you may think! I spent months playing around with various names but I wanted something to reflect who I was and what this process meant to me personally.

"When you look at a field of dandelions, you can either see hundreds of weeds or thousands of wishes"

Dandelions, unfairly have a bit of a bad reputation, but not only are they nutritious they are also symbolic of positivity, progress and survival. They are also quite the traveller and can take their seeds as much as five miles from the original plant.

In the language of flowers, a dandelion means A wish come true which is particularly relevant as becoming a florist has been a lifelong dream that I never thought would become a reality.

It wasn’t until I had my daughter Grace that I decided I would put my career on hold and go back to school and retrain as a florist. It has been an amazing journey with highs and lows - testing my positivity - but it’s been one of the best things I’ve ever done, and I’ve survived so far!

Looking to the future maybe Grace will inherit my passion and love of flowers and nature. She is already showing signs!

"Let your wishes be light on the wind and plant them everywhere"
